Attention: Chiropractor’s Overview on Shoulder Pain

Article by Dr. Jason Hui

Did you know that our shoulders are intended to carry the arms without requiring a lot of support? You’ll find that there are tendons, muscle and cartilage supporting the joint in a ball as well as socket arrangement. As opposed to hips and legs, the shoulder can be moved easier in all manner of various ways. This can cause great stress on the joint leading to shoulder pain. Muscles supporting the shoulder are quite thin stretched unlike the other joints. And as a result they can be more prone to tearing and dislocations as well.

Finding out more completely into shoulder pain and patients perhaps won’t recall the trauma which caused the pain. A chiropractor like Buffalo Grove Chiropractor can evaluate and look for the symptoms in mobility of the shoulder and arm to find the problem. Even the arms are generally used so many times daily, the shoulder can freeze or cause problems with just a minor mishap. Often the problem is the rotator cuff, because this can direct into chronic pain and should be carefully addressed.

Because the shoulders are closely connected to the neck, which in turn is a component of the spinal column, shoulder pain might be a secondary issue associated to spinal alignment. Through the use of one of shoulder pain chiropractor’s methods, like what chiropractors of Progressive Health and Rehabilitation do, they can make a test, bring into line and continue the normal balance of your well-being as well. Once the vertebrae or alignment is out of kilter, then this can have the actual knock that may result to neck and shoulder pains that are out of alignment.

A lot of GP’s and medical professionals encourage patients to take medicine as well as surgery. Except there is a tear, such constant practice or using unnatural tablets into your body can bring another trouble; the balance. Surgical treatment has lots of risks which occasionally go wrong, and medication only hides the pain. Chiropractors are practitioners who use their experiences and particular tools or equipment to determine the root cause of the problem and generate a detailed plan to help body heal on natural ways.

You can meet the trained massage therapists and Chiropractors at Progressive Health and Rehabilitation who can help not only with the pain but restore the body balance. By means of correct spinal alignment, myriad of problems from joint pain, muscular pain, as well as internal organ difficulties. Our patients are directed to take correct dietary needs and are given a stepping stone wellness.

Pain on shoulders is generally overlooked and untreated. If left for a long period of time, there is a tendency that the muscle or cartilage can tear and cause even larger problems. By means of using medication the pain will be masked yet it is only effective for a few hours before the next dose is needed. A chiropractor can evaluate the damage, help correct the alignment of a patient and massage the area restoring a good health. Shoulder pain is generally a secondary outcome of a different problem. It may turn out the neck or spines are at fault yet the pain is felt more in the shoulder itself. It is quite crucial to determine what damage has been done and make an appointment to a chiropractor who can help fix it. It’s a pinched muscles giving you that pain and you need to release your back muscles to get rid of the pinched muscle. Here’s how to do that:
Back:
(do from a sitting position)
Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder, fingers over the back and the palm in the front and firmly press on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward and to the outside of your left leg, keeping your left arm fairly straight as you do. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, release the pressure but rest there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side.
For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.

Pain Relief from Neck and Shoulder Pain My Top 5 Favorite Ways

Article by Wendy Young

When you are experiencing neck and shoulder pain at your computer, there are simple actions you can take to help you feel better.

It is very important to understand how your body reacts with the design of your computer work area. Of equal concern is choosing products to help you rather than create additional pain. It can be just as simple as adjusting or rearranging your equipment and furniture.

Monitor Height Placement

If you bend your neck back to see the monitor, it is too high. If you bend your neck down, your monitor is too low.

Let your head rest naturally and it will tilt slightly forward. You have left the office too many times with sore muscles!

When looking straight ahead, your line of sight is the imaginary horizontal line from your eyes to the screen. Your eyes naturally gaze down 15 – 20 degrees below your line of sight. Adjust the height to easily view the information on the screen where your eyes naturally gaze.

Center Keyboard with Monitor

If your keyboard is placed directly in front of your body and your monitor is situated to the right or left you will be forced to twist your neck to view the screen. Ouch! This twist will tense the muscles in your neck.

The longer you work with your muscles tensed the higher risk of developing neck and shoulder pain.

Adjust Your Chair Armrest Height

How often do you feel as if your neck is almost touching your shoulder? Too often, right!

Let’s not make it easy to tense your shoulders. If your armrests are too high, you will be raising (and tensing!) your shoulders up and creating pain.

Due to the tendency to lean to the side with armrests too low you may also create pain in the elbows and ulnar nerve. The ulnar nerve is the one you feel all the way down into your pinkie finger when hitting your elbow. Watch this one!

Adjust your armrests so that your shoulders are completely relaxed and elbows rest comfortably on armrests.

Eliminate Your Chair Armrests Altogether

Do your armrests prevent you from getting close to your keyboard because they hit the edge of your desk? This is a source of mental stress many of us have experienced.

You will also create tense neck and shoulder muscles due to the straight arm reach to the keyboard and mouse.

So in this case, remove the armrests.

Move Mouse Closer To Your Body

Moving and clicking your mouse frequently when it is too far away can create shoulder pain – use a shorter footprint, ergonomic keyboard without the right hand numeric keypad or a mouse that is placed at the center of the body.

You may also try a keyboard with the numeric keypad on the left, your keyboard and monitor will be balanced more easily.

As always, REST, REST and MORE REST every 10 minutes for 10 seconds and every hour for five (5) minutes.

Stand up and stretch often as this will relax your mind and body, improve circulation and create more productivity.

Q&A: I believe my Chronic masturbation is causing me shoulder pain.

Question by Retractable B: I believe my Chronic masturbation is causing me shoulder pain.
Chronic masturbation is 8 times a day, and though I don’t maintain that, I have my stretches where I actually will.

Then I noticed pain in my right shoulder, and cracking sounds. I started using my left arm and now my left shoulder is experiencing pain.

I’ve browsed a little bit and keep hearing “There are no nasty side effects!” outside the shape of your penis changing (Which isn’t really so bad if you can figure out how to use it on a woman.)

So I want to know if any one else has this problem or can shed some light on it,
I forgot to mention, I’m 20…

Horrible pain in shoulder and hurts to move arm, could it be the rotator cuff?

Question by Momx2: Horrible pain in shoulder and hurts to move arm, could it be the rotator cuff?
We moved back in mid March (15th), and I’m guessing I hurt my shoulder somehow while moving. I remember on my birthday, March 19th, my shoulder hurting for the first time. It has not gotten better since then. The pain starts around the front of my collar bone and goes up over my shoulder and into my back, also up the side of my neck some. Over the last 3 weeks the pain has gotten worse. Its painful to even walk around a store from the gravity pulling down. I have a 25month old, and she’s only 25lbs and even to lift her hurts. The last week, its become almost impossible to use that hand to help put my hair up, shirt or jacket on. I can’t cross my arm to the other side and touch the shoulder, and when I lift the arm up to the side, I can’t fully lift or straighten it w/o the shoulder starting to pull and burn. The pain is weird to describe, almost a burning feeling at times (sometimes so bad I can’t focus on anything else), but an odd pain in all. I’ve tried taking some of my pain pills I had left over from a Kidney stone last year but they don’t work (I can only take half anyway since the pills make me sick).
I don’t have insurance so I don’t want to run off to the ER and get a $ 1k+ bill and we don’t have any low costs clinic’s that deal with bone/joint injuries. I’ve also tried Ibuprofen, and cold/heat, nothing helps. Even sleeping has become difficult to do with having to stay on one side to avoid making the shoulder hurt more. (I’m a woman if that has any baring on anything)

In my nonprofessional opinion, it could be a few things. The collarbone is the most frequently broken bone in the body and the easiest to break. You may have fractured your collarbone and not even know it. Your collarbone (or clavicle) is responsible for connecting your arm to your trunk and allowing your arm to hang with out damaging your neck or torso. You could also have torn your rotor cuff, which is a series of muscles and tendons responsible for stabilizing your shoulder. These muscles are frequently damaged by athletes, but also affect people who uses repetitive over the shoulder or pulling motions. The the case of the clavicle, an X-Ray and stabilization (which may or may not include setting the bone) will help. In the case of a torn rotor cuff, you may require surgery if you don’t take care if it soon. The recovery rate is high, the the longer you wait, the worse it will get. Despite your financial situation, I believe you should have yourself examined by a trained medical professional. It may be difficult, but the damage could be irreparable if not treated in time.

Yoga for Drivers Neck and Shoulder Pain Part 3

Article by Glen Wood – The Yoga Teacher

Yoga for Drivers Neck and Shoulder Pain Part 3

A 2005 study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine found that practicing yoga postures was more effective than traditional treatments for chronic lower-back pain. Here’s a little guide to a pose for the achey places.

It’s a Half Locust Variation:

Lie on your stomach, head turned to the left and hands crossed over the lower back with palms up. On an inhale lift your chest and head, stretch the left hand out in front of you, palm down, upper arm alongside your ear. At the same time lift your right leg about 6 inches off the floor while turning your head toward the centre.

On an exhalation lower your head, chest, and leg and bring the outstretched left arm behind you to rest ion your back. As you lower your head, turn it to the right and return it to the mat (the reverse of your starting position). Repeat on the other side. When your ready, repeat the set six times, each time bringing the leg slightly higher. This will be good for helping your back pain.

There are several ways in which the human body feeds back relative to what you are doing with and to it. Part of this feedback system is a pain response. The pain response comes in several forms, levels, or degrees. For example an achey pain might indicate stretching of muscle. A sharp pain might indicate excess elasticity demanded on the tendon.

Yoga postures focus on building core shoulder strength, opening the chest and relaxation of the upper shoulder and neck muscles. Yoga is not a fad; it is a science that is recognized all over the world, re-establishing its credibility as an ancient discipline dating back ten thousand years ago and will help you with shoulder and back pain.

Yoga practitioners have long touted this ancient exercise as a back pain treatment. Now there’s scientific evidence to support this claim. A major study on the use of alternative therapies found that almost 60% of people who consulted a medical doctor for back pain had tried some sort of alternative therapy.

In yoga therapy, you use a set of posture designed specifically for your individual problems and imbalances to heal your body. A six week program is designed for people with low back pain who wish to return to yoga practice or explore yoga as a method of managing their back pain.
